4th v 5th generation 4x4

The only thing that made me choose a 2010 over the 4th Gens was the styling; the 4th Gen = :barf:

Do a search. This subject has been beat to death for 2 years.
The difficulty is that every forum I have been to has a lousy search engine. So searches are often unproductive. Why not just give me your opinion. Would have taken the same amount of time.
4th vs 5th
I own both, a 4th gen sport and a 5th gen limited. For highway driving, handling, power, and quietness, the 4th gen V8 is superior. For the v6 in both, I would go with the 5th gen. If I could find a low milage quality v8 at a reasonable price, I would definitely buy it. The 5th has more toys, better stereo, more room, and easier entry exit, but now that I own one it doesn't blow me away. Howver, it is better than the other options other than the Lexus 460. One opinion.

I came to the same conclusion when looking at used 4runners. The tradeoff for price of the used was just not worth it for me. I ended up with a brand new 2011 trail edition. Not that much more then a 2-3 year old used runner and it is a fresh restyle that I really liked.
I've had both, an '04 4WD Limited and just bought the '11 SR5, both great cars. The 5th gen gets superior mileage for one, great update on styling, roomier inside but one great overlooked feature is the reclining back seats and third row option. Alot more seating when you need it without a much larger vehicle and much more comfort for the back seat on long drives.
I am having that same debate. Toyota's don't drop that much in value per year unlike American cars. Still 40K with taxes, etc.

Same for me. The dealer had two used 4th Gens on the lot. As soon as I opened the door of the first 4th Gen, I said no way. I was going to start looking at the Highlander's because I wanted 4WD and then we walked past the 5th Gen (it was the first one they received back in November of '09) and my wife said "What's that?" It caught her attention immediately, and mine as well. Took it on a test drive and knew that I had to have it. The 5th Gen just feels and looks bigger (while it is only slightly bigger than the 4th Gen). Also, the driving position and feel of the 5th Gen is not like any other vehicle on the road. I've NEVER owned a car that I liked to drive as much as the 5th Gen.
I'd go with a 5th Gen if I was you ...
