4wd and elocker issue ?

issue or not ?
this will be my 3rd winter with this 4 runner.
So heres the deal, I recently put in an elocker and it works flawlessly. Ive never had a elocker before. It is wired so I can lock it in 2wd.
I do exercise the 4wd and it has not had issues. well it did when I first got it and TheDurk helped me thought that. no problems since. ( vacuum check valve)
All fluids are now synthetic except the front diff. ( just have not gotten to it yet but he front diff fluid was changed 3 years ago , about 40k since)

I installed the elocker about a month ago, and had played with it before and no issues with going in and out of 4wd.

so last night I went out to explore back roads that had been closed due to fires and I went to exercise the systems
I had the elocker engaged was doing about 10 miles an hour and went to put it in to 4H and it made a grinding sound. Would not engage. It has never done that before. So I shut off the elocker and came to a stop. now eleocker not engaged I start moving shift into 4wd and no problems.

now thinking it had to be related to having the elocker engaged. I went back to 2wd, engaged elocker driving, put it in 4wd and everything worked as it should.
shifted in and out of 4wd several times with elocker engaged and one time I could tell the 4wd engaged but the lights did not come on ( I can tell by how it drives that it was in 4wd) did it several times after the light did not come on, and it did not repeat, light came on each time.

so is there a potential issue coming up, or was it just some fluke thing ?

My transfer case in my 96 grinds like that just randomly once in whenever (super rarely though), I have no idea why that is though... It has the manual shift J pattern. Maybe shit just doesn't line up perfect once in a while...

Never had this problem with my 97 which does have the e-locker but it also has the e-shift transfer case. I doubt the e-locker has anything to do with this in the first place though.

Sounds like when you were getting it to work it was engaging into 3wd and not engaging the ADD, the 4WD light doesn't come on unless the actuator pushes it to a certain point. This could bind stuff up and cause grinding if it doesn't get put in far enough. (maybe check your vacuum hoses and do the light tester with both wires to the actuator just in case you are having this as a secondary issue)

What light was and wasn't coming on in the end? the RR diff or the 4WD? little more specific details could help potentially. This was probably just a fluke if everything is working correctly now.

Does everything work like normal now?

thanks,
its a j-shift, it was the 4wd light in the instrument cluster
after work today I will go play with it again
want to make sure its all good to go before the snow hits

so last night I tested it all again, and it all worked fine....except.....my 4wd light did not come on one time again, yet the 4wd did engage. I could hear it and feel it in the way it acts when driving, and could hear it click off when I shifted out. So this is one time out of maybe 6 on yesterdays "testing"
