My mom has an 07 V6 SR5 that started doing something very weird lastnight in the middle of a snow storm.
We had been driving in 4H for a good hour or so when a clunking noise started out of nowhere. It would speed up/get louder with the speed of the truck.
I switched it to 2H and the noise stopped once the front diff disengaged. I put it back into 4H and the noise started again. (the center diff was not locked)
So weve been driving it in 2H till we can take it to the dealer monday morning.
The noise sounds like a mechanical clatter. Any ideas what it could be?
