I've been lurking for several mos. but now I need to ask for help.
This AM while driving I noticed the 4WD indicator (green & yellow) were flashing. I had NOT pushed the 4WD button, it was in 2H and I was driving about 40 mph on a dry road. It continued to blink for a couple of miles then stopped on it's own. It did this several times on my drive in. When I got home I tried to put it in 4WD by pushing the button but all the indicator would do is blink. I didn't try all the things I normally do to get it into 4WD but because of the random 4WD indicator I think I have other problems. I've used 4WD several times this winter w/ no problems. The weather has been <32 for several days now.
Detail: '00 4Runner Limited, 56k mi.
Xfer case & diff's gear oil changed w/ Mobile 1 @ 53K
Auto tranny fluid changed @ 53k
All work done by myself
No major mods to the vehicle
Update: I used the 4Runner at lunch time and the problem did not return. However, I did not drive as far as I had gone this AM when I first noticed the problem. I was able to get it to go into 4WD when I first started off on the lunch time drive. Will monitor for a few days to see if the problem returns.
Another note on the forum, in order to do a search you must use a min. of 4 letters, that makes it hard to search on all 4WD issues. Can that be resolved?
