4wd knob

I have a SR5. It appears that there is a light in the knob but it does not ever appear to be illuminated. I have never been in 4L. But in 2h and 4h it is not illuminated. Anybody know if the is a light in the knob?

Nope... there's no light. Check yourself by pulling the knob off. There aren't any terminals.

It should be illuminated, but is not. Just like the Mirror Adjust Switch, Dimmer Knob, Homelink, Sunroof Switches and Rear Window Switch should be illuminated, but are not. But aleast they illuminated the "Party Mode" switch, that nobody uses, and is in such an awkward and recessed location, it isn't visible anyways... Just more examples of Toyota cutting corners to save a few pennies.

My secondary fuel, hydraulic pump backup and HVAC switches are not illuminated...

You should have an LED opera light shining down on it from the overhead panel and can be seen at night .

Why? It's a large mechanical lever, that isn't easily mistaken for anything else, and is always in the same general vicinity.

On the 14 SR5 and Limited it is a turn knob. Only the Trail has a lever now.

There are very bright indicators on the instrument cluster to let you know what you are currently running.

The good news is that the switch does not have that many positions so it should not take you too long to memorize them. Not using 4L should speed up the learning process ound:
