4wd & 'limited slip' vs lockers video

Fourty-four, i believe that 4runner should pass that roller test with flying colors, as did the Jeeps.

If you really want to see the best performance on those rollers, then you should see the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The Rubicon should fly across those rollers easily due to it's front & rear lockers.

They had a Rubicon on the course. In fact, they had at least one of every Jeep model on the course, including the Liberty. I watched each model tackle every obstacle on the course repeatedly. As you said, the Rubicon had no problem with roller ramp, but then again, either did any of the other models.

T4R ATRAC

Just to add fuel to the ATRAC vs locker debate...

Saw an FJCruiser ad from Toyota that states the following under the heading "Look Ma no steering":
"Negotiating a tough trail is hard enough without your rig having a mind of its own. Locked differentials work great in a straight line, but can leave something to be desired when you start tracking off an embankment, or down a slope you're traversing. In situations like this, Active Traction Control is your best friend; it keeps the diffs open and helps you stay on course." (Akio Nishimura, Chief Engineer)

Sounds like we have a sweet deal with ATRAC. Who am I to 2nd guess Toyota engineering.

I don't know if you've check out the ARB 4Runner Expedition West has, they came to the same conclusion in the real world, on the trail. Sometime a locker is best, other times ATRAC.

That video is pure BS.

The old Ford truck at the end had enough forward momentum to roll through the ramp in neutral!

If they really wanted to make a point, they would have stopped the truck in the middle of the ramp and then pulled the boat over it.

Pathetic attempt, if you ask me.

I'd have to agree. I saw that video a few months back when I was considering a Powertrax unit for my 68 Camaro. Unfortunately, the video is obviously showing an unfair advantage to the old Ford truck because it's going about 10 mph over the ramp. The other trucks just crept up it! If it were me trying to promote my product, I'd display a fair comparison instead of something that is clearly staged to be unequal. Now I don't know if Powertrax is really better or not because the video didn't prove anything to me.
