4WD not actuating

I just replaced my 3VZE in my '92 and now the 4WD isn't actuating, and I have no idea why. The only thing I even did that has to do with the 4WD is the plug on the front diff, and I made sure it's got good connection when I plugged it back in. I also checked the vacuum hoses at the diff and the solenoids, and there wasn't a single trace of any rust or dirt or anything whatsoever. My lever in the car just slides back and forth with no resistance at all, and it won't even go all the way back and lock in the 4L position. I've searched and read up on this problem but nothing I've tried has worked. Is there something im over looking?

With your car turned off, climb under there and have a trusted friend shift the lever from 2H to 4H to 4L.
Check your transfer case to be sure the connections are attached while you are under there.. I believe there's a switch on it.
It sounds like something in the linkage might have come loose.
You determined the 4wd isn't working or just the little green light on the dash didn't light up?
Don't ask me how I know, I have the opposite dash light issue.

X2 on what he said. Do any of your vacuume (or however the hell you spell that) lines have any thin cuts in them? That plagued my 89 for a while
