4wd Operation 00' Limited

So this has been posted many times before, and I have figured out how to use most of the 4wd system, but not all of it ...


I read that I can switch from 2H to 4H and vice versa by hitting the electronic button on the side ... up to 62mph, any driving conditions

4 Low can be engaged by coming to a full stop, pressing the 4wd button, and shifting into 4 Low.

I guess that leaves me with the diff. lock ... when can that be engaged? Only in 4 Low? Proper procedure?

Is it a rear locker? If this is the case...you can only engage it in 4Lo. If you have a center diff locker, it can be engaged in 4Hi and 4Lo.

ummmmm? I'm not sure actually ... I just checled and it says "RR DIFF LOCK", so I'm assuming thats rear ...

whats the difference? I thought that 4HL and 4L locked the centre diff ...

By the way, you can only engage 4Lo when you place the Runner in neutral, press the 4wd button and then switch to 4Lo .

Or you can just destroy your transfer case, your choice.

The rear diff is for off road or for getting unstuck only. The rear diff can be only engaged when in 4lo but there is a mod that allows it to be engaged at any time even in 2wd.........

Center diff operation is for slick on-road conditions in both the 4hi or part time 4wd mode.

Great! think i've got it figured out ... just wondering why someone would want to use the locker in these other scenarios? Anything other than 4low that is ... I thought it was a last resort deal to use th locker!
