4WD turning/steering issue

When I'm in 4WH, my turn radius is reduces quite a bit.
the closer I get to full left or full right, the vehicle starts to buck or lug, as if the CV's are binding.

Is this normal?

Almost like the CV's are binding but if you want full binding then that's what the diff locks are for.op2:

Yes, it's normal. Don't take super sharp turns in 4WD on solid ground/asphalt otherwise the joints will bind - think the manual says so as well.

On high traction surfaces that don’t require 4x4 mode? Yes. Only engage part-time 4x4 when on low traction surfaces and you won’t have this issue. I’m sure it’s mentioned in your users manual or possibly on your drivers visor.

Normal, you have a part time 4x4 system that is not meant to be used in high traction environments. When you have it in 4x4 the front and rear drive shafts are locked to rotate at the same speed - which they do want to do when turning hence the bind/hop you feel

The limited is the only 5th gen to come with full time 4x4 which has a differential in the transfer case (center dif.) which allows the driveshaft's to rotate at different speeds preventing the bind.

Perfectly normal. Even when off-road in low traction scenarios... turning radius is reduced in 4wd with a part time system.
