4WD V8 FULL TIME vs. 4WD V6 PART TIME

I'm trying to find info on the difference between the full and part time 4wd systems on the v6 and v8's. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

When the V6 is in 4WD, there is no difference between them. It's just that the V8s don't have the option of going into 2WD. You can run the V6s in 4HI all the time if you want.

I thought the 4x4 v8 had some additional cooling for the transmission (maybe transfer case) or something. Can anyone confirm?

v6 does not have a tranny cooler. v8 does regardless of 4wd / 2wd.

In 4wd, both are the same. The diff is that the v6 has the ability to go into 2wd whereas the v8 does not.

4HI and FWD don't mix. 4HI = 4WD and yes.. you would lose a certain amount of HP/TQ to the transfer case.

On paper, yes, but nothing you'd ever notice in the real world. In fact, you can end up with more functional power in 4WD when accelerating hard in slippery conditions because of better traction.

probably 3hp? like JB. said, noone will notice the power difference on a v6 in either 2wd or 4wd.

The V6 and V8 loose the same percentage of power in 4WD. The V6 has a slight advantage in handling and maybe gas mileage in the 2WD mode.
