So I bought a 4x4 trails book from COSTCO for $20.00 last week, (list price is $39.95). Its the best 4x4 trail book i seen so far. If you live in North CA, South CA, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. This Series book is for you. The book is pretty thick and it comes with maps, GPS coordinates, photos and trail history. I have not gone on any trails this year due to the Snow in the high country but i am plaining on a trip this year. Check out the web link, the price is pretty low, but i am sure you can find a better deal on another web site or COSTCO.

That's a good price for that book. Yeah, they're pretty good. I have both CAs, AZ, UT, and CO. I like that they have directions for starting at either end of the trails. I mainly use them for pre-trail planning now, as following them fork by fork has started to feel a bit tedious. Laying out a gps track ahead of time makes life way easier if you happen to have the tools to do so. I've been led astray by inaccuracies a couple of times (not in that specific book), so extra navigational supplementation is always a good idea. Good books overall, though.

Hey JB,

Laying out a GPS track ahead of time is a good idea. Thanks for the tip. Time to start looking for my old backpacking GPS.. One odd thing, I didnt see any Neveda books? What up with that? Isnt there 4x4 trails out there?

No, they don't have one for Nevada. I used to wish they did, but with all the tools available to find trails these days, I don't miss one much. Even with all the electronic stuff around, I still find Benchmark Atlases very useful. You might find that at Costco, too.

Anyone know of a book like this for Alabama or Western Florida?
