4x4 engages but truck won't move forward help!!!

You guys keep thinking the gear ratio has something to do with it but it doesn't. A number of people who have swapped in dana 44's on their toyota's and want to run lowest gears possible that match have to run a 5.29 in the rear and 5.38s in the front. Hell, I ran 4.30s in the back with 4.10's up front for almost 6 months. Just didn't go romping on the roads in 4wd doin 70mph. The truck WILL still move regardless of the gear ratio.

Jack the truck up off all 4 tires. Stick it in 4hi and see if it does anything at all. Check your transfer case and front diff fluid. If it makes you happy, check your gear ratio. Put your transmission and transfer case in neutral and see if you can spin the front drive shaft freely.

Did the shop do ANYTHING at all to the front end of your truck when replacing the rear axle? If they messed with the front diff any you could have an actuator wire unplugged. After you had your front diff drained by the shop who fixed your stripped plug(s) did you notice this problem? Was that before or after this situation?

The shop who installed the rear end didn't work on the front end at all. After I had rear end installed drove home happy and a clam. The very next morning I took it the other shop who removed the stripped plugs. I didn't have a chance to notice the problem before or after each job!

For the record, I agree it's not the gear ratio. I was just giving him a way to prove it to himself. He has a '99, so the only wires on the front diff only affect the light. The actuator is vacuum powered. I don't see how the actuator could cause a lock-up even if they managed to leave the hoses off. It would either work, or be in 2WD.

My vote is the transfer case crapped out. broke chain or bent shift fork.

Well pick up the truck last night from the shop and the mechanic says that couldn't find anything wrong that it has to be the wrong gear ratios. He didn't check the any fluids I'll check on those and maybe change them out with correct weight. Other than I have no clue I hope its not my transfer case that got messed up. The 4x4 was working fine with no problem before the rear end swap. I don't do any off roading all city streets and I put the truck once and while on 4hi just run everything through. I don't think its transfer case but never know.

How did he not find anything wrong? Did he put it in 4wd and try to drive it?

I'm not convinced that you understand exactly what your truck is doing, or that you're explaining it correctly to us, or that you understand what information we're asking for to try and help you.

I know what u guys are trying to say just haven't had the time to get under the truck my self and this weather isn't helping either raining past three days. Idk what he exactly did at the shop to check the truck couldn't be there my self to check along with him. I will hold off till get a good day and free time to get under the dam thing and try fee methods that you guys talked about.
