4x4 light flashing when starting up the 4runner

My 4x4 light is flashing in 2H when I start up the 4runner and it doesn't ever go away. I am not even trying to shift it to 4H or 4L. Also, when i'm driving and 4x4 is flashing, it wont let me set cruise control. This issue comes and goes and there are no check engine lights or anything else. What's the issue here?

Do you have a center diff lock button? Is it pressed?

The AWD button is not pressed in. When I do press it in, blinking goes away and 4 solid greens light up, when i turn off AWD all lights turn off.

When i go into 4H blinking turns solid. Then when i go into 2H, all lights turn off.

From last Sunday: AWD - works, 4H - works, 4L - works, E-Locker - works, Transmission shifts through all gears.

Both are true, you took it out of context.

Context was:

So, are you saying that the flashing 4WD lights do go dark if you put it in 4WD and then back to 2WD?

I'm guessing that one of the transfer case switches is sticky. There are several of them. I'll try to attach the wiring diagram.

I don't see how me not using something for weeks would get sticky out of the blue and turn itself on. I haven't used any of the 4x4 features for 3 weeks prior to light starting to blink.

I have a 2000 that I just purchased. My 4wd indicator flashes randomly for no reason- got it at a great price because of it. One Mechanic thinks it needs a sensor replaced? I'm interested to see what the issue is and I'll update you if I figure it out sooner.

Was out this weekend in the woods. All 4x4 functions still work flawlessly. But, the random blinking is still a thing.

Local 4x4 shop didn't know what it is either, suggested to start replacing relays.

Two other shops I went to were stumped and gave no reason or logic behind this random blinking.
