4x4 vsv help.

Hey guys. I'm having trouble with my 4wd and need some help. When I shift into 4wd, the 4wd light comes on and then immediately turns off. Then the truck won't go into 4wd. However, when I pull the blue vsv plug, the 4wd light comes on and the 4wd works the way it should. Can anyone help me understand this and help me get it working properly with the blue plug plugged in?

For what it's worth I pulled the ABS fuse over the summer because I was having ABS problems but I'm not sure that's relevant.

I switched the hoses around and that seems to have fixed the problem for now but we'll see when I take the truck out tomorrow.
