4x4 won’t engage

I went to use the 4x4 last week and the system wouldn’t engage also no dash light. I thought the power wire wasn’t plugged in from when my engine swap was done, so I took it in to the shop.

They extended the power wire and now the dash light comes on, however it still won’t engage. He swapped out the actuators and still the same. He is not a Toyota guy and said it has to be something with the vacuum and told me to take it to the dealer, which I don’t want to do.

Does anyone have a schematic of the vacuum lines?? Any help would be appreciated.

are you able to put it in 4lo? I've found that in my 2000 limited the button for 4wd/awd selection sometimes doesn't want to engage. no noise or clunk, no dash light, just won't work sometimes. i can always put it in 4lo though.

Update

So I took it in to be diagnosed today and below is a pic of what they say is wrong. I can get the parts from Camelback for $225. They want $685 to do the job. However I’m going to need to find a used set of wires with a good pigtail on it. Apparently Toyota doesn’t make the part. After that, I have no idea how hard it is to put these parts in.

So, here's how this happens:

Engine harness gets removed with the engine (pull connectors of trans and harness out of interior after disconnecting from ECU). Problem is, there is ONE LAST connector that goes down to the ADD indicator switch on the front diff.

I got lucky on my 4WD swap truck (it had the engine removed, but nothing else when I got it). The harness actually broke the switch, so all I had to do was replace the switch and I was good to go.

What parts are you going to order to do the work? You can probably do everything with 'off the shelf' parts unless the ADD switch itself was damaged (but you can still get that from Toyota).
