So, I scored a sick deal on an '05 V8 Sport from my buddy who owns a dealership. Paint was rough and it needed a new headlight and a few other small items, but she ran strong and had only 117k miles. And he sold it to me for what they paid the guy on trade-in. Yay me.

So, we immediately loaded up the wife and dog and went to see how she wheels stock.

Bro in his 5th gen came to the rescue.

Then the part ordering began. Trying to keep the rig on a budget, I went with Bilstien 6112 fronts off ebay for around $600. Purchased rear Icon 2.0 non resi’s off my bro’s 5th gen for a C-note flat. Then ordered rear Icon overland springs, shin guards, and lower control arm skids. And was lucky enough to score some new TC upper control arms for a nice price.

The rear was too stiff and way too high for my mostly stock build. Also, the front still looked a little low. I had a few ideas to sort this out and then BAM!

She was gone almost as fast as I got her. Rear ended. Total loss no matter how much I begged and cried for them to just fix it. Ugh. Time to start over....

So here I am sitting on these, with no ride to put them on.

I was sick about all the $$ I had literally just sunk into the rig with parts. I decided to buy another 4th get asap and get the parts swapped over before the old girl went to rot in a yard. I couldn't find anywhere near the deal I had gotten. There just weren't any clean low mile V8's out there. I was convincing myself I would be cool with the V6. But then I drove my bros 5th gen for over 30 minutes on the freeway. Just not enough low end, really had to wind it out. Then I found a clean v8 limited with only 70k on the clock.

Made a deal and got her home. Then a little swaparoo and here we are.

Still sitting too tall and too firm in the rear. And the front looks way lower than other 4th gens I see with a 3" front lift and 285's.

So, I got some .5" toytec strut spacers.

And picked up some Icon 2" rear coils off a forum member. Hoping this setup will still have some rake but nowhere near the almost 3.5" I have currently. Going to hold onto the overland springs in anticipation of future weight adding upgrades.

Yea thats an understatement! 2015 Trail with all the goodies.

should have swaparooed the scooped hood too. That hood is hella expensive to buy. But if you dont care about the scoop then no biggie. truck looks good doe

Any idea if there are any kits out there to make the scoop functional? Also since I cant create my own post yet I'll ask another question here: Anyone know why a decent bra for the 4th gen is so hard to find? My 04 (that ive had for 4 days) is showing some chipping from the years and im kind of wanting some protection. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks! Sorry for derailing the post!

That would have been a little too blatant and risky. I would rather have the scoop but its very low on the priority list of mods.

To my knowledge the only actual use for the hood scoop is an aftermarket kit that mounts a mini light bar in the space.

As for bra's, I would look for the invisible ones that are like a clear vinyl wrap.

So the .5" spacer and icon 2" rear springs were a success.

Spacers on top of the 6112's.

CV's still look happy but I need to stretch the inner boots asap.
