I just put 5.29's in the T4r and they are awesome. I got some video of me climbing up some really steep junk and pretty much idled up it. I never would have thought that the runner would have crawled like that.
5.29's are great

Are you manual tranny? Those #s seem high. I do 70mph @ 2600 with 4.88s and 33s.

Those #'s seem right to me. 5.29's are too low of gear for 33's. IMO. I ran Yukon 5.29's in my old 88 4runner with 37's. BTW I broke multiple sets. So now I got 4.88's and 35's. And the diffs with broken gears were set-up properly. 2 done by me and 2 done by Marlin Crawler.

I don't think 5.29s are too low for 33s if you are armored and have an auto tranny. I carry about 750 extra lbs in armor and tools. My 4.88s really only made up for my bigger tires and steel wheels, but I still feel some lag going up long hills trying to pull all that weight. I have about the same power now as I did when I was stock with 265/70s and fully loaded down. I think 5.29s would put my power back closer to how it felt when it was stock weight with 265/70s.
The OP's numbers seem high to me because he is 600 rpms higher than my 4.88s. According to every gear ratio chart I've seen, 5.29s should only put my rpms ~2-300 higher than my 4.88s at freeway speeds. That's why i was thinking the OP has a manual - their 5th gear is lower than my auto's O/D.

Mine in 5th gear running 70mph @ 3200. The gas mileage isn't to bad. The interstate driving is a lil ruff on the mileage but other than that it's pretty sweet. No more down shifting on the long interstate hills thou.

That makes sense, I figured that's why your rpms seemed higher. I'll bet that truck of yours feels pretty awesome with 5.29s, 33s, and 5 spd.
