5.7 in new Tundra

Does anyone know is the 5.7 liter in the new Tundra is the same block as the 4.7? If it is, I might possibly look into buying a set of the manifolds(which look more like headers to me) to put on my 4runner.

I'm pretty sure it is because the engines both have the same bore, making the 5.7 just a stroked 4.7. However, that is all that is the same. I doubt headers from the 5.7 would fit in a 4Runner engine bay...there just isn't enough room!

I believe they're different. The 4.7 is a 2UZ, whereas the 5.7 is a 3UR.

It really doesn't matter if the block is the same, its the heads where the headers go to anyway which is important.

You got me there. I just want to squeeze as much power as possible out of my 4runner, but there isnt very much aftermarket support.

You're right, there isn't much out there, except URDUSA with the supercharger, or going custom with a turbo setup from sts and doing it yourself. Basically, everything worth doing will void the warranty.

I've seen the 4.7 and 5.7 engines sitting next to each other, the size difference is pretty substantial. It could be possible but would definitely be a challenge. You'd also have to swap over the Tundra's 6sp. My advice? Wait a year and trade up to a Sequoia 5.7, or wait for Toyota to follow suit with a GX570, or maybe we'll even get lucky and the 5.7 will trickle down to the 4R in the future. Hell, there's talk of them putting it in some of the Lexus sedans, for heaven's sake.

I doubt I could get another car, I have bought and sold too many as it is. I just want a little more umph from the engine, especially before I put a lift and 33"s on it.
