5 spd tranfer case retrofit question.

So I laid a 2000 T-case next to a 1997 T-case. The 2000 has 2 plugs sensors on either side of the shift lever, I guess those are for 4High and 4Low lights on dash? Not sure because my Frankenstein rig has a auto cluster brain chip (original had bad gas gauge reading), and mine is a 5 speed so lights are not there or working, no biggie for me.
The 1997 has a speedo cable and 1 plug/sensor on the right side only. So can the I just disregard the speedo cable, take it out and use the plug blank from my blown T-case, and take the left side sensor plug and fill the left blank plug? There are spots for everything looks like, just trying to make everything work properly. Also, with a digital speedo, where is it getting its reading, abs sensor?
Also letting you know both T-cases are for 5 speeds. I know you can retrofit the auto T-cases also.

Where is that case with the speedo cable from? It is likely and early Taco case. All 3rd gen 4Runners were either electric speedo off the back of the transfer case (non-ABS) or just have a block off plate there (ABS 4Runners).
There should be 3 switches on (AT) 4Runner j-shift transfer cases - 4WD switch (lights the dash, engages the ADD), neutral (lights the 'ATP' light if auto trans is in Park and transfer case is in neutral), and 4LO (changes auto trans shift points when in 4LO).
The manual transmission cases might be missing those last two - but it will always need to have the switch for lighting the 4WD light on the cluster.

At a chop yard I pulled the one with speedo cable transfer case off a 5 speed and 3.4L connected laying on the ground, the guy said it was a 97. I told him I was looking for a 4runner transfer case. So I'm thinking too it was a Tacoma, the guy probably figured it could be made to work.
I think probably no big deal on the sensors, just plug up the speedo cable, and add the extra sensor in the other plug hole blank, so utilizing both sensors.
For now I'll just use the one I know is a perfect match for my DD I had in my own parts rig. I was trying to save it, but I'll use the retro fit one in my other project rig.
