I am selling my much loved 1987 4 Runner and getting a car for my work. I am the second owner. First owner was army major in charge of vehicle maintenance, so it was well taken care of over the years.
The truck is an automatic, removable cap, moon roof, radio, altimeter, back seats that fold down, roll bar. New tires still under warranty purchased for about $400 this year. Replaced the cables to the e-brake and replaced the load distribution valve (in rear, brake cables attach to it) and lines all last winter. Regular maintenance, good records. 4WD works great. Black paint with sport stripes. 177, 000 miles.
Here is the list of repairs (from Toyota last week):
brakes are unsafe because i need......
- pads, rotors, calipers
- wheel cylinders
- rear drums
- needs front axle boots (both)
- lost coolant at one point and may indicate future gasket problem.
- rear window does not roll down but is stuck in up position. The Hanes manual shows you how to approach this problem.
Rust: passed inspection in march. Has some paint bubbling over fenders but it is nothing too serious. Rear door has some bondo repairs. Otherwise, body is in great condition.
If you love 4unners and want to fix one up to take off road this fall and winter, this is for you. I am getting my car next week, and transfering the plates. I don't have a good place to keep this truck so I need to get rid of it pretty fast.
