5100 OME 890 question

On the wheelers website for the 3rd gen 4runner specific rear bilstein 5100's theres two options

I know the OME 890's add 2-3 inches of lift in the rear (which is what i'll be using) I'll be running 881's up front.

Should I be selecting the rear option for bilstein 5100 Rear Shock Set for 1.5"-3" Lift?

Doesn't provide a part number. And I know the other option is for 0-2 inches of lift with part number 24-248730

Thanks for the help!

I have the 890's as well but with arb shocks, I got about 2.75" of lift after it has settled down and was initially sitting closer to 3". Im not sure if this helps but from a logical standpoint I would go with the 1.5"-3" set of shocks since the 890's sit at 2.75". I would ask further tho, I only have experience with my arb set up and not with blisteins. :hatsoff:

Yeah makes sense, just wish it showed the part number, I'd hate to have them be too long or something

The 1.5" to 3" 5100 option on the Wheeler's website is NOT the 4Runner specific one... I think it is the Tundra rear, maybe?

Yeah Im pretty sure you're right. The longer ones are for the Tundra. That's what everyone used to buy before they came out with 4runner specific ones. That is what I have in the rear of mine. I also ran them with 890s without an issue. Now they are running with my Superflex coils.

They probably don't list the part number because they aren't an off-the-shelf shock. They know that people browse sites to get part numbers to order off Amazon for cheaper [emoji23]
If they listed the part number, guys would probably go buy Tundra shocks for their 4Runner, and they wouldn't work! So I think they should list the part number [emoji12]
I'm just assuming they are pressing the bushings out of the bottom of the Tundra 5100, and installing 3/4" hourglass bushings before sending them out to guys that order them for their 4Runner.
The 1.5"-3" is definitely the option you want between those two.
The 33-187174 will also work, and will give you more droop. They may limit your up-travel, so keep that in mind too. This 5100 is a direct fit, and has the same compressed and extended lengths as the OEM FJ80 rear shocks that a lot of guys use/have used.

Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah I emailed wheelers are they responded saying the rears are for a Tundra and that they will bolt up directly to a 4runner without replacing the rear bushings, they do that for you before they ship them out!

Doesn't anyone know if I could run stock shocks with the 890/881 setup because I don't off-road at all. If i need new shocks does anyone have a suggestion for a set that isn't bilstein 5100 expensive but will still work good. Thanks

Doesn't answer your question, but be sure to ask Wheelers for T4R or Tacoma World forum discount. They don't have any coupon codes advertised so you need to ask to get discounted pricing. :rapture:

You could I guess, but that setup would have absolutely zero up-travel and would like like absolute garbage.

Save yourself (and your back) the trouble, and just spend the money and do it right.

You can run the stock shocks in the rear if you're not off-roading, that's what I'm currently doing right now with the 890's. Have been for about a year now. Unloaded, it rides just fine. The only time the ride is a little 'off' with this setup is when I have my hitch hauler hooked up with my dirt bike on it and gear/gas cans in the back.

I'm not sure about the front end though, I'm running 5100's up front.

Ok, just the answer I was looking to hear. Thanks! Worse come to worse I run the stock shocks all around and if it doesnt workout bite the bullet and buy some.

Not to hijack, but I'm running 890s and NGTR-4R ProComp shocks on the rear netting about a 3" rear lift. I'm running stock springs and shocks up front with a 1" lift block and soon need to upgrade my front shocks.

Seems like upgrading to 5100s and 881s is the easy ticket, or is there a better way?
