5100 shock top nut spec

Installing Bilstein 5100s, and would like to know how far to crank down the shock top nut. I don't think I can get a torque wrench in there, so is there an approximate number of threads that should be showing?

Thanks!

I have never heard what might be the proper way to do it. I have done this way for years with no problems. I usually tighten the nut until the rubber becomes about the same diameter as the washers.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I did. On my old Passat, you had to crank that nut down until it stopped. Not really the case here, I guess. I tightened until the two black rubber bushings were about as wide as the washers. 4 or 5 threads showing above the nut. Callin' it done!
