so i have run the TRD Tundra coils on the tundra 5100s on the 3rd(middle) setting, and had no issues.
i then upgraded to the 3" eibach coils from toytec, and dropped down to the 2nd(from the bottom) setting, that was fine but still too much rake for me, so i had them readjusted, told the guy to put them on the 3rd(middle) setting. well he didnt listen and put them on the 4th(from the bottom, 2nd from the top) setting and i promptly blew out both my struts within 1000 mi. now stock factory 4runner coils, im not sure. honestly i dont think id go any higher than the 3rd setting, maybe im gun shy idk but you gotta think just cause the tundra 5100 has 5 settings, doesnt mean they will work on the 4runners, i mean so many other variables come into play between the two trucks, weight, height differences and locations and distance differences in all of the suspension, travel distances ect. there is too much that could be and probably is different, just cause they will fit in there and are roughly the same length... suspension travel could be different idk so im not gonna tell you to go ahead.
im still young and have a lot to learn on some things, suspension is one of those things, while i was good at geometry in skool(pun intended) i never really liked math or algorithms or algebra or variables ect, too much thinking so i left that for the nerds lol. what im saying here is, i tried this cause it looked like it would work but i didnt think of all the variables at first, so yeah i might have screwed myself idk, but i dont want that blood on my hands with someone elses rig. i am by no means an expert and so yeah try at your own risk. one last thing i will say though is think about this, the higher you go, the more preload you are putting on those coils, meaning the harder they are gonna want to push your front end up when you unload the suspension going over bumps and stuff, so you might end up topping out your shocks/struts, in a harsh manor that might not be good for them, i dont think you should have to worry about them being your bump-stops but making them your limit straps could be a bad thing with too much prelaod.
