53' trailer parked on my 4Runner

This is what happened yesterday. I was at work and my car was parked on the street. Some trucker from Canada (24 years old)tried to back up to our shipping dock and because he had no idea how to do it, he hit my 4R.
I'm devastated !!!! I know it's only big scratch and it could end up much worse but it doesn't make me feel any better.
Best thing is that he didn't want to give me his driver license but since I called cops he had to do it later anyway. Also he tried to convince cop that he didn't do it because he had no paint from my 4R on his trailer...Too bad that 3 people were outside when it happened and saw whole thing. He stopped his truck when my car's alarm went on! I guess I'm lucky because there were witnesses.

Thats the part I hate about getting a new car. The first ding, scratch, stone chip, etc. etc. But this....this always p****s me off! And to top it off he wouldn't own up to it. What a dork!

After all that I told him that I understand he didn't want to do it but at least he should have told the truth, not lie when 3 people saw him doing it.....That was just plain stupid...

Ouch, sorry to see what happened to your 4Runner. I hope everything works out for you. To all of this, you are lucky that your alarm got the attention of a few people and they waited for the police. I just hate when people lie like that. If you did something wrong, just confess because the consequences for lying are worse!

You have had some pretty bad luck - you even installed a rear obstacle sensor then somebody else reverses into you!!

If its any consolation the guy that hit you will probably have such a hike in insurance premiums and risk rating that he probably wont be able to get a job driving trucks for some time...

Luckily you caught the guy. My last car was swiped like that in a huge and very populated SAMS club store parking lot. It amazed me how NOBODY saw it happen. And of course no note was left for me.

Well on the bright side, you may get a nice check from his insurance company. Hopefully there is some cash left over to fund a few mods for all your pain and suffering!!!

That really sucks. I don't know if I could keep myself from putting a beating on that morron who dinged your truck. I would need someone to talk to him because I would fear I would start talking with my fists.

They should be able to bring it right back to new. I would make sure you take it to a Toyota Collision Centre so it will be just like new.

I'm a Canadian, and please don't lump us all in the same boat as a lazy, inexperienced, incompetent conartist. If I were there, I would have smacked him around for you.

hey krosno....i have a friend that works at CARRS Honda bodyshop. Maybe he can help you out? The other guy is paying so you might as well get the best. Take you truck to Toyota and see what they can do. Run up the bill.....who cares.....it's not on your tab.

The biggest problem is that this is first time when I have to do anybody work on my car and I have no idea where to look for a good shop. There are so many of them.
Does any of You have any suggestion or advice about finding a good body shop?

Just ask your local Toyota dealer. They should know a shop that specializes with Toyota's. Usually the Toyota dealers have specific collision shop that they deal with.
