5th gen 0il analysis using Amsoil

ok im new to these forums but i just wanted to share my oil analysis info after using Amsoil. ive owned my 2010 sr5 4.0 for six months now and put 7500 miles on it. I decided to change my oil after 5500 miles and not wait until the 10k recomended. So i used Amsoil 0-20 synthetic. Well after 1000 miles i decided to do an oil analysis so i used a company called Schaeffers specialized lubricants, only because i work for a company that currently uses them and i could get it done for free. they sent me back my analysis that i have no idea how to post it so i can show everyone. but the numbers on the wear metals came back abnormal on the copper it read 87. also the numbers on the silicon ppm were 38 abnormal. and under there comments it reads oil should be changed and a resample should be done to establish trends. that stuff aint cheap.

Ok so im wondering well (hoping)that its because its a new vehichle and its showing break in wear metals. ive always used Amsoil in my favorite vehicles and toys but this is the first analysis ive ever done

so now im lost i dont know what i should do. should i send a sample to another company and get second analysis, change oil or what:shrug: have any of you done an oil analysis on your motor oil with better results?

I'm using Amsoil too, I changed at a little over 5000 miles and I'm at 7200 now. Please let us know how this turns out. I would probably try a different company first before changing the stuff out.
 
well with the engines I have built i change the oil after 3 months for the first year synthetic or not. There is gonna be some metals in the oil from the break in. I wouldnt even worry about doing oil samples until after the first 10-15k miles are put on the motor because it will give you some funky results.
 
The results are still valuable--and it was free.

Jm5thgen, post up your next few results. I'd be curious on the results. Just so I understand. You have 7500 on it now. You changed it back about 2000 miles ago (5500); 1000 miles ago (6500) you pulled a sample and sent it in for analysis?
 
Seeing high levels of metal and silicon in a new engine are normal. It will take two or three changes (with a filter) for these levels to go down and stabilize. I found that Blackstone is a better lab to use because they deal more with the general public. They would have told you this is normal and they also compare/average to all other vehicles with the same engine. They also recommend how long it’s safe to use you’re your oil and will tell you when they see something abnormal. The best place to find out about oil and reading lab test reports is bobistheoilguy.com.

Note - Amsoil is one of the best oils money can buy (if not the best). Also the new Toyota 0w20 oil has proven to be excellent oil too. I only use Amsoil.

I love Amsoil! If you find a distributor they can usually cut you a discounted price. Im definitely going to be using amsoil when it comes time to switch out the oil.
 
thanks for all your input. i think im guna wait try another oil analysis from a different company first just for ****s n grins. also if one of you guys is running the stock oil with under 10k and lives close to modesto/ceres ca hit me up and we can do an oil sample on yours for free. i have a few oil analysis kits on hand that are pre-paid. its real simple you dont even have to change your oil, i have an extraction pump and tube that feeds down your dip stick takes like 2 minutes. im just curious to see the readings, i should of tested mine before i changed it.

This is disturbing :). I just got my very first 4 Runner (wife drives it). We love it but I hope this isnt an issue with early wear on the enginee. Once I get this <a href="http://www.bcduplication.com" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0) ! important; text-decoration: none ! important; cursor: default ! important;">cd printing</a> job done today I am going to change out the oil and get some analysis done. I am thinking its probably just break in though. :fro:
 
Let me put your minds at ease, Toyota/Lexus engines are known to be gentle on oil and can run extended oil change intervals (OCI) better then most all other engines. I have seen UOAs on new Toyota/Lexus engines with 10K miles on the factory fill (dino oil) and was still providing safe protection. It has been proven that one year or 10K miles is a safe OCI, especially using synthetic. When the OEM is recommending 10K miles you know it is safe. The only reason it took so long for Toyota to recommend this interval was they would be losing money (service). Also they needed every way possible to get better mileage. The gain is slight but there is a gain.

hi jm5thgen: i have 11,000 miles and dealer oil changes at 5000 and 10000 miles. let me know if you're interested in sampling my oil. i live in dublin which is not too far from modesto. TIA. :)
 
hey no prob toyslug give me a call. im interested in seeing some results with a different oil just find out what synthetic they used at dealer. this is my work phone 831-901-4849
