This one really sticks out far and looks blocky because there is no plastic Trail trim to go around the Lo-Pro and make it look like it doesn't stick out so far.

Same here. I prefer the sleeker look vs. having a bull bar.

Ok so we updated the drawing and changed the bumper so that a bull bar will fit on top. We had to extend the front face of the bumper out over 2" to allow a bulbar to fit on top.
Our opinion is that it looks bad and greatly decreases approach angle and overall visual appearance. It makes the bumper look very blocky and out of place, sort of gives it that Bulldog underbite look.

Here are the renderings of what it looks like on both the Trail and SR5/Limited versions.

To be up front and honest, I don't think we will offer the bumper with a bullbar option just because of how far it has to protrude out the front of the original plastic bumper.

I'm sure you guys looked into it but can it be angled like the +16 Tacos to minimize angle of attack loss?

I must have poor taste, because I'm seriously digging the bull bar and I totally hear what you are saying about the underbite thing (which is hilarious BTW). While the addition of the bull bar pulls the design further from a "Slim line" approach, it is still sleek when compared against the alternative of a full steel bumper.

As mentioned, would the angled bull bar be a viable option?

Thanks for the feedback guys. A Tacoma style bullbar could lessen the bulkiness of the Lo-Pro by possibly about an inch or so. The problem with that type of bull bar is that they are difficult to make. Notching and then bending a piece of tube to fit that outside corner is very tricky and time consuming. There really is no way for us to use a tube notcher or similar tool to fit the ends of the tube because its a square shaped notch.


Our Tacoma bull bars are ordered from a laser cutting company that has a tube laser and cnc tube bender. They have the ability to notch the tube on both ends and laser etch reference marks into the tube so it can be bent on the correct plane each time to ensure a perfect fit.

This process makes sense for our Tacoma Lo-pros because we are ordering 100 at a time or more to keep the cost down. Making a similar bull bar for the 10-13 Lo-Pro doesn't make sense because we know we will never be selling nearly as many units compared to our Tacoma Lo-Pros and 14+ Lo-Pros.


So there is the long version as to why that type of bull bar doesn't make sense for us from a manufacturing standpoint. Lets let the thread continue for a few days to see what other responses we get about making the bumper stick out enough for a bull bar or not. As im sure you guys have realized, the no bull bar design is definitely where our vote is. It fits much better with C4's sleek function and styling. The 10-13 plastic bumpers already stick out and hang down farther than the 14+ bumpers so why make the Lo-Pro protrude out even farther than it needs to?

All that being said by @C4_Fabrication, I'm still more of a fan of the sleek, lo profile look in the 2nd rendering. On it's profile, it looks like it hugs the contours perfectly ad honestly, it more subtly fits in to the front end.

I would be interested in one for my '13 specifically since mine took a hit yesterday on the interstate and I need a new one. And I like the hoop. But I also ordered hoops on my last Shrockworks bumper for my 4th gen.

My vote is for the slim version sans bull bar. Was originally into the idea but the renderings definitely changed my mind with how bulky it looks.

I like the look of the bull bar but I am not willing to sacrifice approach angle to gain aesthetics. I already feel like my SR5 is lacking in approach angle as it is.

Yes the Lo-Pro does offer a tighter looking fit on the SR5/Limited because the plastics on those stick forward and down more than the Trail.

We do not plan to offer two different versions of this bumper just to fit Trail or SR5/Limited so we did the best we could to make the Lo-Pro fit well on all both trims.

I completely understand Caleb. It was merely my observation (being a Trail owner). I know you and your team are doing their best to appease EVERYONE. Since I will already be losing some approach angle with either design...I vote bull bar LOL What's another degree or two?

Couple of mock ups from their old thread. I'm down for either, with/without bar. I like both looks but like the bar more. For the trail edition, it adds a little extra touch since the background is black anyway. For the sr5/limited, the background would be the body color.


One question I have is, is this going to be compatible with aftermarket skid plates? I have the RCI front skid plate. The image appears to have a gap between the two and should be ok but just checking.
