Trail4R just installed SSO high clearance sides on a C4 bumper. I really like the cut on the lowest section and how it really goes with the lines. I think that type of design integration on the fender would look a lot better. Also going a little lower then up and over the leading edge of the body panel for better protection and to hide the cut line.

Or...no cut at all. Wrap up and over by a couple inches, give it a nice angled leading edge, foraward protruding by and inch at least. This way you get protection for your body panels in rare case you hit there without the cons, cutting (the impact to sales here has to be significant), gas milage, wind noise, exposed parts, exsposed cut edge, liners not working great, etc. Being a product designer (ID/ME) for mostly consumer goods I focus on the majority and don’t negatively impact the majority by trying to please the minority. Trying to please everyone and in the end pleasing no one. If I could just bolt on a solution and only lose some clearance compared to SSO I would be in. Plus reversible. Done right it could work pretty well and even look great, and keep the great lines of the 5th gen intact.

I did consider the SSO bumper for this option but decided that not only do I prefer the design and look of the C4, but that I really don’t like the looks of the SSO high clearance sides and the cons I mentioned. Do love that SSO was super innovative.

That link is just showing how to cut the plastic higher, they aren't actually putting SSO stage 2 sides onto our bumper. Im not sure why they wrote the article to make it seem like that's what they did.

Curious why the render designs aren't as wide as this concept version? It looks pretty slick when it is the same width as the black plastic part instead of sitting inside it.

I dont think it has been determined. But the corresponding model for the 2014+ are roughly about $700.

[MENTION=141387]TwoRunner[/MENTION] - That first prototype was from a few years ago and to the best of my knowledge, C4 only made one or two and never put it into production. I liked it, but I like their new approach more. If you go back through the thread, you'll see a side profile mock-up when they incorporated the bull bar and it pushed the entire bumper out significantly. In a way, it defeats the concept of being a "low profile" bumper, so they're going with the ones you see on the original posting and the one you attached. They're also going to incorporate the new C4 logo in the middle of the lightbar opening like they did on a recent Tacoma bumper they made. It's a sick look.

Not sure if there was confusion with the post above and the Silver TE, but there isnt an actual bumper yet. That picture is of one they built a few years ago and not the design C4 will be using. Only renderings of their design are shown, which are significantly less bulky and much more streamlined. Theres a bunch of discussion in past posts about adding a bullbar and C4 killed that since they wanted to keep the bumper sleek and low profile. Im going next weekend, the 25th, to get their first built bumper installed.
