This is merely an observation so forgive me for suggesting as I may be way off, but you've placed the RAM mount directly in the path of one of your airbags. My thinking is that you've turned the RAM mount into a missile directed right at you where instead of the airbag saving your life, its now simply a cannon with a loaded barrel. Again, not trying to be an ass or confrontational, just wondering if its a factor or not.

How far NW? We have a couple of lots in Fairfield Bay - off Greer's Ferry Lake!

In the afternoon, the wife and I went out to some property we own in the middle of nowhere NW Arkansas. Our property is about 8 miles down a series of bad dirt roads. This is about as extreme as I plan on my off roading to get in the 4Runner.

For a road trip, may I suggest:

Valentine detector
Handpresso 12v espresso maker
ARB freezer/fridge
vinyl window tint that is easy to remove. All window treatments are like a cheap camera lens.

Though I concur that an MDX is great for a road trip, I gave my MDX to my son-in-law after my three years w/o a 4Runner.

Did you ever get any good research back on the cell phone booster? Curious how that may work in certain areas. I plan on doing a road trip to Oregon, only up to 8 hours, but more depending on how often we stop and if roads are all open.
