They look badass. I fully admit that's the only reason I'll end up getting one.
 
On the stock truck it looks a little out of place. But with a little black TE trim and some meaty tires. I think it would fit just right.

still on the fence as whether or not to add it to the list. Still kinda wish Safari would make one for us.

To be fair, deep water isn't the only reason for a snorkel. Very dusty environments where you're traveling in a convoy (i.e. for a rally in the desert) warrant the use of a snorkel.

However, I agree with you on the water thing.
 
I am going to leave my truck alone and just drive around wearing a snorkel to see how that works....I hope the guy at BurgerBongo understands my lunch order when I go to the DriveThru.

Maybe not intentionally. Sometimes you can't see the bottom of the puddle or it's shallow in the spot you test with a stick but deeper where you drive in. Sometimes the puddle that was really shallow last week got deeper from guys spinning their wheels through it. I did a river crossing in May where it was pretty shallow on the way out in the morning but was a lot deeper in the afternoon on the way back out because of runoff. When I popped the hood after the afternoon crossing there was a little water right on top of the wheel well. Its about peace of mind.

Cheaper to have the interior of the truck cleaned than to replace a hydrolocked engine.

It took me a bit to realize what was "off" about it. It's that they used smooth plastic so it's really shiny as opposed to the Safaris that use a textured plastic. It does look like it sits pretty far forward too, but I wonder if the position wouldn't look better if the truck had a front bumper. I think I'd still rather modify another 1GR-FE Safari snorkel so it fits the 5th gen's fender.
 
Looks awful. It should sit higher on the fender, it looks too low. I was excited when I saw the thread title, and then I saw it...

This is kinda what I was refering to as far as "look"...I realize it's a different fender, etc. but it seems to me the that internal (as in the engine bay) piping could get you to the same corner and then come out...but of course....

where would we mount our OBA....:hiding:

That is what I was trying to convey. In the engine bay, not between the inner and outer fenders, and not a big **** down the side of the exterior.
 
Some of the Safari ones,such as the LC200's and even the FJ's are big and look very much like this one.
I personally like the smaller look of the one they made for the new Prado 150 which is built on the same platform as our 5ths.

What's the odds that the safari prado 150 snorkel will work for us as well?

That's the same snorkel my buddy has on his 3rd gen. Looks fantastic.

I think with a little "fab" work (heat gun, dremel, etc) it could be made to fit better. The problem is convincing myself to drop the coin on the snorkel and take the chance...

I agree with what most of you have to say. I personally wouldn't get one at the price its listed at, as I would like to change a few things (such as the snorkel head) also my needs are not as desperate as there where though I still want one, you know for the future trips. :biggrin2:
