5th gen and 3rd same hub size? hubcentric rings needed?

Recently put 2018 TRD Pro wheels on the 3rd gen, a little shake there but not much. Had them balanced twice and it’s spot on. I’m thinking the hub size is slightly smaller on the 3rd gen than the 5th gen, therefore making the wheels not hub centric and allowing a little play with the bigger tires. Has anyone confirmed this and know what adapters are needed?

Running factory lugs from the 5th gen wheels as well. So I’m thinking the rings are the trick

I'm running the 17" sr5 wheels on mine and do not have any issues. I would have balance double checked and make sure they are road force balanced.

You could measure the two I would think or pull center cap and look, pretty simple to answer your own question.
Were surfaces free of rust dirt etc that wheels mount on?

They have the same size center bore.

I'd guess tire issues. Swap em front to rear to see if the issue moves.

I'm pretty sure the cb size on the 5th gen is 106.Xmm, which in that case is not smaller than the 3rd gen.

Are the OEM TRD wheels or replicas?

Even a 108mm wheel shouldn't be the cause of vibrations and since you're using factory lug nuts I'm guessing it's a tire issue.

Also, don't rule out the steering rack or steering rack bushings, as well as tie rods. If any of those are in bad shape you can expect some slight vibrations.

Would think factory lug nuts be fine.
[MENTION=209116]Jeremy107[/MENTION] Sometimes tire shops don't tighten/torque lugs in star pattern, you might try a redo on that.
As mentioned swap tires around see if vibes move with tires.

What tires are you running ?

The 265/70/17 Dunlop grandtrek that comes with the 5th gens. Needed 17” wheels when I did the tundra brake upgrade. I got the wheels and tires cheap from someone who got new wheels and tires for their 5th gen. I figured it’s a waist to throw away tires with so much tread on them. So I’m using them until the wear some more. Then I plan on putting ko2’s on them.

Thanks all, I’m running Falken Wildpeaks ATs. I’m going to move them around and see what happens while also torqueing them all correctly. I also have bought some overhaul parts just haven’t put on yet.
