5th Gen Experience...Are they still tanks?

My truck is at 93,000 miles now and I have it for 7 years. Other that regular wear like tires, battery and brakes I had to replace park neutral switch last winter. Maybe it got too much dirt or water in it when I was offroading, this switch was dying very slowly and didn't completely died wen I decided t replace it.
And T4R really surprises me that it has no rattles whatsoever after all that offroad trails and old logging loads I put my truck through

Absolutely. I've spent more in maintenance costs on 26k miles.

If that's the case then no, they're nothing like they used to be. That's horrible. I didn't spend that much in 150k miles on my 2nd gen. That's way worse than my Audi and way worse than my classic Alfa Romeo. Wow. That's discouraging. I was hoping a Toyota would be reliable and low maintenance.

Not at all to discourage you, but I bought used at 70k. TBH, I would have preferred a newer or lower mileage 5th gen but they sell high and fast in this region.
If buying used you have to consider replacement costs for tires, brake system, suspension, other consumables, etc. With higher mileage this can add up fast. for example, just finished a preemptive 100k service, so factor that in.
Tires = $~1350
Brakes = $~650
Spark plugs = $50
fluids, lubricants, various tools, etc for regular maintenance = probably around $300-400
Wheel bearings = $170 each
Toyota Scheduled Service = $90-220 x2 per year
Alignment = $75 x2 per year
broken fastener replacements = I've spent $86 at the clips and fasteners site because I break plastic when I take it apart
Factor in wash and wax and I think I may be on point.
Along with that, I've had other issues that I've had to cough up money for since I was out of warranty that are specific to 2010-2011 and maybe some 2012: Rear light assembly, factory LCA ball joints, throttle body with ecm (I also replaced MAF and intake tube at this time).

I recently purchased my first 4runner. A 2012 one onwer with 32k. In searching in my area the limiteds were about $10,000 more for comparable mileage. I didn't see the value of the limited for what I wanted...plus I was sick of leather seats
My 12 SR5 has a rear camera. I am almost positive it has the "appearance package" if that makes a difference
