5th gen floor mats in 3rd gen?

Hello, I'd like to give a friend with a 3rd gen some factory all weather mats for the 5th but wanted to see if they would fit.

Things like this make me wonder if they would work or not. I would like to hope they would, they just wouldnt be too secure since the newer gen stuff has the twist post style versus the hook style his 3rd gen has

Well, I have a 2010 and they have hooks. I think it was '14 when they changed.
