Just wanted to inform you that I will be the 5th Gen sub forum moderator for the foreseeable future. If you have any problems or questions do not hesitate to send me a PM and I will do my best to help you.
Let's start here first:
T4R.ORG FORUM RULES
Usage of this forum is dependent upon acceptance of the following rules:
Rules for Toyota-4Runner.org
1. No Whining
This includes, but is not limited to, whining about other members, whining about the mods, whining about the admins, whining about the forum in general, whining about other forums, etc. Determinations on the issue of whining shall be in the sole and absolute discretion of the admins / mods.
2. No Personal Attacks
This includes, but is not limited to, name calling, racial slurs, threats, badgering, shouting (typing in ALL CAPS), etc.
3. No Trolling or Posts For the Purpose of Instigating Flame Wars
This includes, but is not limited to, posts designed to instigate political and religious flame wars (e.g., starting a poll asking whether or not you think the President is a re****). Trolling includes making deliberate provocative posts with the aim of inciting an angry response or disrupting discussion. Determinations on the issue of whether a post was made for the purpose of trolling or of instigating a flame war shall be in the sole and absolute discretion of the admins / mods.
4. No Rated X, R, or NC-17 Content
Please use discretion while posting in order to help keep this a "work-safe" website.
The above is just a partial snapshot of the rules. Here is a link to the rest: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/gener...toyota-4runner-org-forum-rules-must-read.html Please read and re read them and adjust your future posts accordingly.
Over the past several weeks our forum has witnessed it's share of name calling, profanity laced posts and rude behavior. There is no one person or even one group of people responsible but it will stop now. Understand?
This is an amazing forum with great people and the knowledge base is incredible. I want to stay in the background as much as possible but if you decide to go off the reservation you will get warned. If you continue then you will get banned. Got it?
One last note:
Experienced Forum Members -
Please extend greetings to new members. They are new and do not yet know the forum nor the vehicle or the people who own them. Yes, they need to search because 99% of the time their question has been answered. They do not know that yet though. The best thing to do is provide a link to the FAQ's or a relevant thread. The worst thing to do is denigrate them just because they are new. Skipping a reply is also an option...
New Forum Members -
There are many intelligent members here that can help you with most anything 4Runner related. The 5th Gen forum is relaxed with a lot of joking and banter thrown about. Please don't take these posts the wrong way. Yes, if someone does not have anything helpful to add to your thread then they should just not post. Unfortunately that's not gonna happen. People will offer opinions, right or wrong. People will also go off topic. That is the nature of forums. When you need to search for a topic, just google it with the first terms being "5th Gen." So if I wanted to search for silver 4Runners for example, then I would go to google and type "5th Gen Silver 4Runners." Your search results will bring you right back here to a relevant thread.
New Business:
In my world we have a saying: "Change or Die." What this means is we must constantly continue to change and adapt if our designs are going to be relevant. Our forum also needs a bit of a change to reflect the newer 4Runners. We also say "You Want it Right or do You Want it Right Now?" This means things take time to do, so any changes will be gradual over weeks or months.
Do you have any recommendations? Do you think we need to clean up the stickies? Offer new stickies? Update the FAQ's?
One thing I would like to do over the next several weeks is to update the build threads and include the newer builds.
Remember one thing before thinking more stickies are the answer: The "Magnetic Gray 4Runner" picture thread has had more views that the "FAQ" thread. The Gray 4Runner thread is not even stickied and it has more views!
So what are your recommendations?
