any alternatives for ladders besides the gobi one?

haven't contacted gobi yet about pricing for one of their ladders but it'd be nice to know if there were alternatives that i could look at before hand.

thanks fellas,

The price through the group buy a couple months ago, I think it was like $195 shipped. I found it on a vendor on Fjforums for $206.

GOBI Toyota 4Runner Rear Ladder

thanks a bunch dude.

one more thing to add to the list! :D

just checked the dealer you listed and it says the following:

Please note, the 4Runner ladder is not an availible option for 2010 model years.

wonder why that is?

also anyone find a heavy duty gas shock replacement for the rear hatch to compensate for the ladder install?

Oops I did not see that. I would just call gobi, ask for Sandra and she'll help you out.

I have a 2010 Limited with the ladder (and stealth rack).

As mentioned, I would call Sandra at Gobi. :thumb3:

did you replace your gas shocks for the hatch?

also how'd the install of the ladder go? i read on another thread where the OP had to modify his ladder a bit to fit.

emailed gobi and havent gotten a reply..

hopefully i can find a retailer that sells the 5th gen ladder.

Mine went on easy. My 9 year old helped. I kind of like the stock shock. easier to close and you have something to grab when you close it. Installing roof tomorrow. 9 year old cant pick up the other side and its to heavy to do alone. Very Very good instructions come with it.

Install was no big deal. I did modify the top bracket a bit. Pics etc are in my build thread (link below in my signature). You can do the entire install by yourself, but it is handy to have an extra set of hands to hold the ladder in place while you deal with the bottom bracket.

I did not replace the struts and have had no issues what so ever. The door goes up just fine and stays up just fine. Hope this helps!

Give them a call... you'll have much better results that way. they seem to prioritize phone calls over emails.

I have the Gobi ladder my 2010 TE, no issues. I have not replaced the shocks and there has been no need to, I have not noticed a difference (except in lowering, which is a bonus as it makes it easier)

Im looking at available ladders and the baja one seems like a better thought out ladder. The gobi runs closer to the center of the rear window than the baja. Anything im missing?
