5th GEN Limited Tires

So I just got a new 2012 Limited about 2 weeks ago and was woefully dissapointed in the stock tires. They were so thin and I am not a fan of the Duelers, so I got some New Toyos in P285/50/R20 They are the same height, with just a bit more width. No problems at all with rubbing and I think they look great.

I live near Seattle and both the 4Runner and the new tires did amazing in the recent snow and ice storm we had. I was never stuck anywhere and was chauffering folks around.

I live in Renton and have a '10 Limited.

- Where did you have your tires installed?
- Did they have any concerns about installing the P285/50/R20's on the 7" wide stock rims?

Mine came with duelers and I had problems with them for the first 10k. They rebalanced them (road force) and also rotated them 2x. I had a shimmy that was was still there but not as bad. I went and got the 20k tire rotate/balance service and the tires are now spot on perfect. I still want better shoes for the 20" rims.

I'll certainly look for some better looking tires when the stock ones wear out. I've seen some pretty nice looking tire pics posted on this forum.
 
I got the Yokohama Geolander's on my 12. Yes they are narrow. We had a 8in snow fall over night and I took the 4runner out, the tires performed way beyond my expectations for all seasons.

Same with the duelers, they look so damn thin but still are pretty good in the snow and soft sand. I

I was originally a bit "put off" by how slim they looked - but honestly, they have worked just fine for me here in Dallas for what I do. I will find a better tire when they need to be replaced, I just didn't want to shell out the $$ for new tires until these had run thier course. I'm at 27k miles now, and the tires still have plenty of life. I'm thinking they will make it to 50k miles. My tires on my 4th gen lasted almost 3 1/2 years (nearly 52k miles) before I had to replace those.

I ran duelers on my 2wd 4th gen. I averaged a little over 60k miles with each set.
 
I got them at Les Schwab. They ran the specs for the narrower wheel and said that they did not see any problems with the extra width.
