5th gen mirrors on 4th gen? Or other puddle light configuration

I feel like this has been asked somewhere before but I can't find it after many searches..

I have a 4th gen 4r with standard power door mirrors, and I noticed the 5th gen has literally everything I could want on door mirrors, or at least certainly the Limited does.

Basically, I want puddle lights (I can figure out the wiring if it gets pretty nonstandard) but I was wondering if anyone's tried this and the brackets fit nicely, and it'd be nice to have those heated mirrors and the turn signals on them as well, which is why i'm looking at these in particular.

Any experience with this, or alternate suggestions that could maybe satisfy all my wishes? (recap: 1st priority, puddle lights; 2nd turn signals; 3rd heated mirrors)

Yep. Trying to install 5th gen mirror covers onto a 4th gen is like converting the Pope to Islam. Not happening.

I just read through that whole thread; nice job.

I have a few reservations in that I'm not particular about the glare off the car for the puddle lights, and I'm not particular either about the particularly reddish orange coming off those blinkers, but then maybe that's just your camera's settings. And anyway, those things can be fixed via adjustments.. resolder different LEDs or something..
Actually my biggest reservation is in the mirror cover's body color, because I have a not-cream 4r and I am not sure I want to try repainting them...
But all of this certainly gives me ideas. And I'm not ruling out doing what you did as an option for me either... hmm...

Regarding the paint, well, I'm a stickler for perfection, so I went with a body shop and had them painted. Perfect match, BUT, it did cost me big (~$200).

Transformation? Just the pictures I posted and the videos. That's all I have/had when i did this mods years ago.

Update: They are still fine, EXCEPT, the driver's side got slowly hit when driving out of the garage and cracked the mirror cover. I glued it back together (this was 1 or 2 years ago). Puddle light still works, but the turn signal wire got disconnected. I've since tried the connection and the LEDs still work just fine, I have yet to find the time to properly fix this.

They have developed a rattle, I can't remember how this happened, but the passenger side is loose and all I can remember is how much of a pain they were to install the covers onto the "guts" of the OEM mirror/motor/etc, so I've left is alone all this time.

Like I mentioned, I purchase back up, but I'll most likely have a shop install these as I no longer have the patience to do this. The only mod I'm willing to do is an Android Radio.
