5th gen roof rack bolt spacing

Im designing a roof rack for someone with a 5th gen. I have a 4th gen, so I cant measure off mine.

Does anyone know what the hole spacing information is for a 5th gen? I could met up with the customer and take the the covers off his stock luggage rack and take measurements but if someone has made a rack and already and has the information, that would save me some time.

With the way Toyota changes stuff from year to year and model to model - I would only take measurements from the same year and model 4Runner as yours. I suppose you could make the mount adjustable - but still.

As far as I knew they changed cosmetic stuff but the roof rack and the main body for all the 5th gens should be the same, is that not true?

I am doing it right, it would just save time if someone already had the measurements. Not like every company you buy a roof rack from online has to personally come out and measure your specific vehicle.

The spacing from the hole centers front to back and from side to side. The style of rack im making is one of the low profile types so there is almost no adjustability.

I was hoping someone who had made a rack for their 5th gen at some point had measured all of that at some point.
 
From what I've read the older 5th gens rails taper toward each other at the front while newer ones have parallel bars (some info on this in the aluminum roof rack thread). Might want to look into that.

Ok thanks, guess I’ll just have to try and meet up with the guy and take measurements. Was worth a try lol

It would save time if someone else built it for you too.

And every legit manufacturer most likely did have an actual vehicle in front of them to design a part, they then documented everything and created an engineering drawing so they can repeat the part for mass production and end up with the same product each time.

They sure as hell weren't asking for the answers online.

Glad you know what all the “legit manufacturers” “most likely did”. I asked a quick question about some measurements that are standard to a vehicle on a forum where a large group of people own that very vehicle.

If no one has them then it’s not a big deal, but to get all snarky telling me to “do it right” is a waste of time. I’ve measured plenty of roofs for roof racks I’ve built. I figured someone might have recently done the same thing, that simple.

Oem roof racks have a cover which needs to be removed to measure the bolts which is pita to remove.

I have the trd pro rack which has exposed bolts. I can measure tomorrow if you still need the measurements.

I just met up with him again and took the covers off to measure. I have all the measurements I need. Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it

I have exact same issue. can you please share measurements with me ? i am not able to measure it myself.
