My previous truck.. was a v8, miss the power. my other vehicles are a hemi, and a supercharged hemi. So its a big difference driving the 4runner as a daily driver.

The 1GR version for the ?-'15 Tacoma is 305/330. There's no meaningful benefit to VVTi once its boosted. So I don't know of any reason to think we'll see anything more than the other 1Gr 4.0L in output. Toyota was claiming 345/340 way back when at SEMA. I don't see it. Not that it's not possible, but it seems unlikely unless they're using more boost.



However - I personally wouldn't much care about the peak hp. Actually I don't care at all. I'd LOVE 250hp - if it were at 2500 rpms. If the supercharger can even produce 150hp at 2500rpms it'll be a huge win.



Maybe it'll be a hot item if the price is right. At $4k it's compelling. At $7,500 I think sales will be single digits.

250hp at 2500RPM is 525 lb-ft. Maybe a bridge too far for a 4.0L and maintaining reliability. 315 lb-ft at 2500RPM (150hp) is much more likely.

FWIW, I tore down a 2GR and swapped out the pistons and rods for this a few months ago. It really isn't too difficult to tear down. It is giving me bad ideas for some low compression pistons to take to the boost a little better.

Hate to pile on, but I overheard the owners in a local offload shop chatting about this exact thing, and despite all the false-starts over the years, looks like it's finally going to happen.

Doesn't mean squat, I know, but I actually believe it now...

You think you can pay any body enough to watch over the lot of us? Not sure this deserves a lock other then being a dead horse around here.......but I am not a mod

Hope it is true this time but I won't hold my breath. Have had multiple cars with Eaton PD plowers and really enjoy the low end torque boost, that said - There are a lot of other mods I would do to the 4runner before paying 5-8k for a blower.

A reliable source here in the front range confirmed today that they are coming - original ETA was end of March but they hit delays. They're putting it into a shop build.

I can think of a lot of ways I'd rather spend 7k but merging onto 75mph fully loaded where people do 85 does make this slightly appealing
