5th Gen Transfer Case, Chain or Gear Driven?

Does anyone know? Maybe it's been covered and I missed it. I am asking about the non-Limited models part-time 4wd transfer case. The limited is the same as mine minus 2wd mode. It uses a chain.

I am curious because in my experience chain stretch is an issue with continuous use of 4hi on the pavement. If it's gear driven, you change the fluid frequently (and don't have huge tires) it's not that big of a deal IMHO.

i believe it's Toyota's VF2A transfer case, so it's gear-driven if i'm not mistaken.

VF2A seems very likely but that one does have a chain...

It is chain driven.
