5th gen tube bumpers/pics?

Was wondering if people have been fabricating tube/prerunner style bumpers for the 5th gens.

This exact question was asked by the group of tundras I was with last week. They all have ideas, but I personally can't see it it working nicely, but I want to see what people have come up with.

They would be very easy to fabricate. However, they would also be very hard to make look good given the front design and how large the front bumper cover is along with what lives behind it. Basically they'll end up exposing a bunch of stuff behind the bumper and look funny. Like this:

I don't think anyone would buy one after seeing the result.

I do think Toyota's Baja 4Runner bumper looks okay though.

Addicted Offroad makes plate/tube hybrid bumper if you're interested in something like that. I have one and it exposes the washer reservoir. Haven't had any issues though. That can be remedied easily, I'm just lazy.

I'm still waiting for other options to surface myself. I would also like a tube rear.

I think mine looks aesthetically pleasing. Just had to chop off the lower part of the valance.

A few tube options for the rear bumper would be great to see. Not a fan of adding 150+ lbs to get a bit more clearance and some protection. [MENTION=106176]wfo9[/MENTION] posted a sweet diy setup that I wish caught on.

Starting to think custom is the way to go. I would love to expand on [MENTION=106176]wfo9[/MENTION]'s idea. Tube around plastics on side adding some side protection under the taillights.

I wonder what the odds are that the rear ends/frame rails have similar measurements? It would be dope if we could slap this on our trucks with minimal modification.

Might be worth a trip to 4wp without rear plastics to see the fit. (assuming they would stock such a thing)

I love that idea, the setup wfo9 has would look like i coordinate well with the SSO high clearance front idea. It'd be nice to add some protection on the rear end too.

Honestly that setup seems like a waste. Those metal sides aren't designed to take much impact "Cover up those ugly bits after cutting your OEM plastics. This cover will clean up the look and provide some protection to the exposed washer fluid reservoir after installation of the Stage 2 High Clearance". Tube bumper addresses practical use protection/weight savings over plate.

What i do see people doing is getting the skid and just cutting the plastic and running it like that.

A route I might honestly take. Just because it will be even lighter then a tube.

check out Uinta 4Runner or Uinta Metal Fab. I don't think this is a production bumper (yet?) but it's a pretty badass design
