5VZ-FE ITB's in the making

After getting into engine building for my little AE86 drifter, I was introduced to Individual Throttle Bodies.

Many people put them on 4-cylinder engines, and sometimes even on V8's

but this has never been done on the 5vz engine.

I just ordered a computer called Megasquirt to custom tune the engine for the new modification.

Ill have to convert it to MAP to get the full power out of this.

What do yall think?

Wow - that sounds complicated! Couldn't you just turbo or S/C to get the extra air? How about just doing some head and plenum work?

that would require different pistons, and rods. and a costly turbo and oil lines and coolers etc etc. But those things have been done before....

this has not-thats why I'm going with ITB's rather than forced air

Cool. Like the others said, be sure to post up pics! That is going to look pretty freakin impressive when you pop the hood....

How much horsepower are you expecting since the OEM SC makes enough power with just simple mods and doesn't require anything more than the fuel mods and you can push over 300 crankhorse on the stock internals.

You won't make that much with the throttle bodies and what do you figure the cost is for this experiment? It would be cool but I don't see the practicality of the mod when a proven and safe OEM power adder is available.

I really want to see pics when this is done since it will be a first and definetly a sight when the hood is up.
