5VZFE Block Heater Replacement Cord Available?

It's -25C and although my 3rd gen starts perfectly (synthetic oil) I figure a block heater can't hurt. After 18 years, the cord is in pretty poor shape. Rather than just soldering on a new head, I was wondering if anyone knows if just the cord is replaceable, and if so, does anyone have a part number readily available?

Some block heaters seem to have a replaceable cord, not sure if the ones on our 3rd gen are designed this way? I'd rather not have to drain the radiator to replace the entire block heater right now!

I've never had an older vehicle where the cord was not replaceable.

They were all standard.

The part that plugged into the heater looked like a half moon in shape and had 3 female terminals and provided a weather proof seal.

If most of the cord looked good I would check the heater for resistance or see if it drew 3 amps or so.

If it checked out ok I would just put a new plug on the end.

I found out it is replaceable, cord part #: C0140-02900. However the part is discontinued. Might have to solder something up after all.

I'm sure you can go to Canadian Tire and get a replacement off the shelf.

I'm assuming you're in Canada as you said celsius.

And no need to solder. Just get a hubble type plug with screw down terminals.
