5vzfe Fan bracket removal

I just finished replacing the fan bracket in the 5vzfe motor. You don't have to drain coolant. This is for demonstration purposes only

Tools needed:
12 mm and 14 mm box socket, extensions
12 and 14 mm wrenches
Phillips screwdriver

Time: About 1 hour

1) Disconnect the MAF sensor wire plug, vacuum hoses going into the intake hose and air filter box and remove the intake hose and the air filter box.
2) Remove the cam position sensor wire plug on the timing belt cover
3) Remove six 10 mm timing belt (T-belt) cover bolts
4) Remove four 10 mm nuts on the radiator fan
5) From the air box side, you can easily access the power steering adjuster screw. Loosen the power steering adjuster bolts with a 14 mm. Also loosen the bolt located right next to the power steering oil reservoir. Now remove the P/S belt
6) loosen the alternator adjuster bolts by 12 mm and then loosen the alternator top main bolt with a 14 mm.
7) Remove the dip stick and remove the fan and the two pulleys from the engine.
8) Using 14 mm box socket remove 3 bolts holding the fan bracket.
9) gently lift the timing belt cover to access the top bolt located on the fan bracket and lift the T-belt cover to remove the fan bracket from the engine.
10) installation is the opposite.

Note: I was not able to find the torque for fan bracket to the engine block so I used 13 ft/lb and then turned each bolt about 1/4 of a turn.

My buddy has access to Alldata and even they didn't have the torque numbers for those bolts so I went with the 2uz torque numbers which are 14lbs, except for the top bolt which is 24.

I replaced mine with an Aisin one when I changed my life TB/H20 pump. The bearing playing between the new one and one with 110,000 miles was noticeable.

So I was pretty close with the torque

So I was pretty close to the torque. I used the cam shaft cap bolt torque for this and it worked!!! :tea:

I replaced mine at 200K miles. Yes I see a big difference in the sound.
Don't tight the drive belts a lot. I do 1/2 inch flex in the alternator belt between fan pulley and alternator and also 1/2 inch between P/S pump and fan pulley.
Too much tension will ruin the fan bracket bearing prematurely
