Who here can speak highly of a place they have got an engine from and have been running it for a period of time ?????

Ordered an engine from jdmenginedepot through their eBay store. The engine they shipped me was full of water in the valley under the intake manifold, and the valves are very rusty. I'm asking for a full refund and plan to buy a different engine from jdmenginezone from their eBay store.

what can i say, some people get good engine and some dont. I personally would never buy a used engine over internet. I would only go and look in person and then make the decision

Again, his engine is from Engine Depot, not Engine Zone.

Shady ass employees at JDM Engine Depot. Every engine I saw looked beat to shit.

I understand. It's not where I got mine from. But just I'd personally never buy a used engine of the internet

I would suggest talking to JDM Engine Bay here in the Bay Area. JAPAN USED ENGINES STORE I've grabbed a 5VZFE, 2JZGTE, and 3SGTE from them and all have been in good condition. Looking around their shop I haven't seen anything I would be worried about. If I had more free time I would offer to stop by and hand pick one for you if you go that way.

Thanks for the advice! I'm only about a 4 hour drive from the Bay Area so I may just swing by and pick one up, the one you got looked to be in excellent condition.

Oh yeah, I daily a 2014 Taco the 4runner is more of a weekend warrior. Thanks for your help it's gonna save me a lot of time trying to wait for another engine from the east coast.

I got my new, new engine installed and running it smoked quite a bit at first but less once I let it run for a while. I took it for a spin around the block and got a misfire code for every cylinder other than #1. Also got these. Does anyone have any insight on what the issue could be?

Check/clean harness connections associated with the knock sensors and ignition. With all them codes, does it sound like its run really rough?

Yes it's really rough at low idle. Better at high idle. Lots of white smoke, i'm thinking i may have neglected to plug the knock sensor in:crybaby:

So very rough idle...white smoke...are you losing coolant? oil color and smell normal? maybe run a compression test. if it all looks good, then when was the last time the fuel filter was changed? is the fuel good or old?

I haven't changed the fuel filter but was planning to do that. I was leaning towards the cps being bad since the old motor ran fine until I hydrolocked it.
