6 CD changer for 1999 SR5

really stupid question but does this head unit actually load 6 CD's in it or is there a separate unit that plugs into it. There are two plugs on the back of the head unit and two plugs on the back of the amp, what are all these for ?

I have a 6 disc changer in my 99 4runner, and yes it loads 6 into the unit. However, mine looks nothing like the picture that you posted. Mine is basically a singe din cassette deck with a single din 6 cd changer mounted above it.
