6 Disc in-dash in Sport Edition.

Does anyone know if the stock in dash 6 disc radio will work with the 04 Sport?
I've been told by the dealership that it isn't offered with the Sport Edition and that the wiring is different than the SR5 and the Limited.
This doesn't make sense to me so I thought I'd ask the folks who know.
Thanks for any and all help you can give me with this problem.

They are replacing my 03 under lemon law and are telling me they can't match the option package.
 
I'm calling BS on that. I have an '03 Sport with the 6 disc in dash. I know it isn't an '04 but I also know they didn't make that many changes from '03 to '04. Don't take their crap.
 
tell the dealer to go look at one of his 4runner brochures and see what he has to say then. you will notice there is a big fat "O" next to the 6 disc radio on all the models for 4runners. in case he cant see the small writing, tell him to look up accessory code "EJ" on his computer and use 640x480 screen resolution so he can see it.

Make sure you have the correct center console piece for the 6 disc in-dash changer! There are two different models.
 
It's all good.

As soon as I notified the dealer I was aware of option code EJ they found me one within minutes. I went to look at it today and gave it the thumbs up. I should be taking delivery on it within a week or so.
Amazing, it happened to be sitting at their other location less than 10 miles away.

I'm not sure if you've posted this already, but why is your 4Runner being replaced under the Lemon Law?

Just curious...
 
GOOD QUESTION

I haven't posted yet but here it is in a nutshell. Keep in mind I am a loyal Toyota owner. This is my fifth Toyota besides having recommended them to all my friends and family.
I'ts had body noise problems since it was new. The worst of which was a creaking, cracking, squeaking noise from the RH side of the body near the right rear door. They fixed it by adjusting the right rear fold down seat striker to put pressure on the side pillar. This made the noise almost go away but the seat fold down latch was almost impossible to operate after they did the fix and the noise never completely went away.
The sunroof had a wicked rattle that was addressed in a TSB but was never completely fixed. Ever since the attempted repair of the sunroof it has been exhibiting strange behavior i.e. moving forward by itself when open, gears grinding during this self actuation, sticking open, gears grinding during normal operation etc.
At the first complaint the vehicle had only 300 or so miles. The dealer had the vehicle for close to 45 days in the first three months I owned it and I've been making repeated spot trips back when the sunroof has acted up since. VA lemon law specifies anything over 30 days down time in any 180 day period qualifies for a replacement or buyback.
Finally after not being able to properly repair the sunroof we followed through with the arbitration process that had already been started months before. The final outcome is a new 2004 SE V8 with an equal option package to the 03 I purchased last July.
The issue with the CD player came into play when they found me a replacement vehile which had everything except for the 6 disc changer. At that point they told me the SE wasn't available with the in dash 6 CD to which I replied "BS." I just needed some verification which was not available from the dealer who obviously was less than enthusiastic to uncover their own BS story.
Lemon law issues are extremely difficult to win and I consider myslef very lucky to have made even this much progress without involving an attorney. I am, however, happy to be able to walk away saying that Toyota finally did the right thing and kept a loyal customer.

Hey congrats on winning and it's awesome that you aren't gun shy and looking for another 4Runner to replace your lemon. I'm a huge supporter of Toyota as well being a three time owner.

You mentioned that you were in VA. I am in Woodbridge myself (Near Potomac Mills Mall) and I guess I'm curious what dealership you bought your 4Runner from and where you're getting it replaced.

Fredericksburg here. Everything done through Rosner Toyota.
Overall they've been better than average throughout the whole thing.
I've had Camrys, Rav 4's, Tercels and a Celica. I could never go back to a US brand even though they're getting better. The other Japanese options don't thrill me so I figured I was better off sticking with Toyota.
I guess I just got a Monday or Friday truck. Being the first model year with a new body style I figured there might be problems but I never thought they'd be as bad as they were.
 
Ok, I think I know where Rosner is. My dad suggested going south when looking at my 4Runner because prices might be a bit better but I never made it out to there. The second dealership I visited beat the offer off the first dealer and I didn't want to pass it up.

Yeah I'd never buy an american made car. I'm not that brave, stupid or desparate... I've had a corolla and two celicas, so when time came to get a new ride I looked at Toyota again. I was going to get a Subaru STI or Lancer EVO, but I figured a SUV was a more logical and practical choice.

Did you buy a 2K3 4Runner? I waited till the 2K4 was out to get one. I figured they'd work out the bugs by then. Other than the sulfur exhaust smell, I haven't had any problems with it.

Oh yeah, post some pics of your new Runner when you get time...
