6-Disc player ate my CD's!

Hello everyone,

I've got an 03 4Runner Limited with the JBL system. Just now, I was inserting a new CD into my 6-CD changer, when it made lots of clicking noises, and displayed "ERROR 3" Over on the Tundrasolutions forums, they say its due to a jammed CD in the player. I have not found a fix for the problem over there, so I figure I'd ask you all to post your thoughts.

If this player breaks, I'd be in the market for a new head unit. :)

Gonna have to open it up and see what's jammed. Probably an easy fix. At least then you can get your discs out it.

That happened to my original unit too. I was on vacation and loaded Cd's and the stupid thing did not load properly and half way loaded one jamming the rest. Hate to tell you you will have to take it apart and remove the CD like that. I stood next to my dealer when he used a Leatherman to remove one very cracked CD that was stuck in my old unit.
For some reason it seems that the JBL 6 units like to act up.
Good luck....

Had some spare time last weekend, and took out the unit. Turns out the mechanism that changes the CD's or whatever broke in an irrepairable fashion - almost like it was completely disconnected from the rest of the unit.

Ah well, least I found a good excuse to purchase a brand new head unit :)

Same thing happened to me. Had to take out the HU and completely disassemble it to remove all 6 CD's. Disassembly was irreversible, but pretty sure it was already irrepairable.

Mine just did this as well. how to you take apart the head unit? I know how to get the unit out of the dash just dont really know how to take the rest of it apart.
