6 inch lift on my TEP

Alright, I've done my research on the 6'' lifts out there. Boy, these are popular in Hawaii. Here is where I need your help.
I have an opportunity to get a 6'' lift at an amazing price.
I don't know if its for me. I ran an Icon Stage 2 on my last FJ and loved it. The ride was smooth. I know once I install the 6'' lift, it is on there for good because of the cutting and welding involved.

-I commute 40 miles a day
-I love a smooth ride
-I will do go Off-road, but nothing Crazy.
-I am aware I can run 35s and are ok with it.
-On the fence about the 6'' look

Question, should I seize this opportunity or save my pennies for an Icon 3'' lift?

You don't say why you think you need a 6" lift other than you can get it at a good price. If you don't do any wild off-roading, to me, it's like saying you can get a lobotomy at a good price. You may not need it, but hey, the price is good.

If you want it, can afford it, and other people in your life are ok with it, then get it.
If not, then don't.

Tons of people do all kinds of mods to vehicles then never leave the paved road. You'll have to install a "mall rated" sticker, though. It's a requirement.

I will also point out that 6" will really hurt your mileage on that 40-mile commute.

Anything else and we'll need more details. Do you have a picture? Is this a suspension only lift, or suspension + body? You said you'll be able to run 35's, so that tells me a body lift must be involved, or else the salesman is mistaken.

There is your answer. Don't do something to your vehicle that you can't take back if you are not 100% sure about it.

I've heard if you do a 6" lift there is no turning back your preety much stuck with that lift, since they do alot of welding to make it work. Oh and i bet the resale value of the vehicle just dropped by doing a 6"lift mod.

Do what you want, except for stretching tires. If you stretch a narrow tire onto a wide wheel, I move to have you permanently banned.

6" is a permanent mod.

Did they get the steering shaft spacer built, or are they going to fab one?

It's fun to watch the very heavyset locals try to climb into these things.

IMHO 6 inches looks kinda lame its like you cant stuff enough rubber under the 4r to make it look right...

I appreciate all your thoughts, but this one was the one that hit home. Even if it was free, a 6'' lift is just not for me. I have a long daily commute and the gas will kill me. Plus, the whole permanent aspect of a 6'' Fabtech or Pro Comp lift really just turned me away.
I loved my last Icon set up and will stick with it.

I look to the arctic trucks guys to see what is still functional while BIG. They only do a 3.5" (90 mm) lift to fit their 44s, but you can bet there is a lot of cutting and welding to that point (wheelbase and track are modded once they go above 35s).
