60,000 Mile Maintenance

Hi,

I have a 2005 4-Runner V6, bought it new, and have 65,000 miles on it. Abut 33K, I had the dealer "30,000 Mile Service".

I'm looking through threads and reading on my own, it isn't necessary to do all the dealer wants at 60K is it? Some of the stuff surely seems like it should not need to be done. I plan on doing the spark plugs myself, oil change, filters, etc, but is it going to hurt anything if all the other stuff like fluid changes aren't done?

My dealer wants $699 for it plus tax, and with monies tight right now it is alot, especially if the dealer is "doing it just to do it", especially if it doesn't need it.

Any input would help!

This is what's required at 60k, from Toyota Parts and Service. You can select other mileage intervals as well.

The dealer will often do more, and usually unncessary service, than what's required.

Just took my '04 in at 65k for RF brake, and figured I'd have them perform the service since I am short on time these days... $487 for the 60k service, but the surprise was that RF caliper was frozen and all 4 rotors were too rusty to service. After replacing 2 calipers (have to be replaced in pairs), all 4 rotors, and 60k service... Out the door for $2k... So much for F***ing Toyota reliability!
