6500K HIDs???

OK, now I am really confused.

I have been researching HIDs and various looks / light output from the different K ratings...and now I see a 6500K kit from Xenon Depot...but I have yet to see any mention of that temperature on this forum.

I've decided that I want 6000k or above, maybe all the way up to 8000k, so I've been checking out different kits at different sites.

The strange part is that this kit is much less $$$ than the 4300K and 6000K kits. I think I want to stay with a reputable company rather than order from ebay, but why would the 6500k be half the price of the 6000k? Any members have this kit or have heard anything about it?

I certainly appreciate any thoughts or comments.

The difference in price is probably due to the components in their kit. Since 4300k is the same rating as factory HID systems, XenonDepot included Phillips components comparable to what would come from the factory. These are more expensive.

Since 6500k is more typical for that aftermarket or "show" look (not as popular, as it looks too blue to most people), Phillips may not make components for that rating, and XenonDepot may have gone with lower quality/less expensive parts.

If I were you, I'd check their site again to see exactly what comes in the kit. And keep in mind that the bluer you go with the light output, the less distance you'll get for illumination depth. That's why most people stick to 4300k or 6000k. Any higher and it doesn't perform as well, and doesn't look factory. But your opinion may vary and you may like the blue, so go with your gut.

As per your questions:

1) 6500k kit will offer you a purplish output. Very similar to that of the XenonDepot 6000k kit.

2) The Xtreme kit is less expensive as it uses Asian components rather than German made Philips components. In terms of quality though, the Xtreme kit has not been compromised. Furthermore, the kit is waterproof, comes with the same warranty as the XenonDepot kit, and at $224.99 is definitely a steal!
